three and a half seconds about life.

Three and a Half Seconds About Life from Eran Hilleli on Vimeo.

when I watched this video for the first time, it had me in stitches because it is so real life.  or maybe it was just so dumb it was funny.

but then, after watching it a couple more times with the kids, the hilarity was replaced by a profound sense of sadness.

why, I wasn't quite sure.

after contemplating it for a while, the only explanation that seemed logical was this; it reminded me of how fragile life really is.  that in a blink of an eye it could be taken away.  just like those poor, unsuspecting birds' lives were.

and at the same token, it made me realize yet again how I can get so wrapped up in the rat race of everyday life (run here, run there, do this, do that) that I forget to stop and appreciate the little moments.  but what if today was your last?  would you wish you would've paid more attention?

because really, what's more important?  a clean house or watching the delight on your little one's face as she piles up couch cushions in the living room to make a cozy spot for snuggling and reading books to her little sister?

if given the choice, I'm pretty sure we would all choose the latter.

in that brief moment I stopped to revel in this scene, the imprint it made on my heart will last an eternity.

life is too short to take moments like these for granted.

all this from a 55 second video about birds meeting their fate.  seriously.

who knew?
