bring on the snow.

evidently the clouds convened and decided it was time to empty their bowels on us northern Arizonans.  in other words, we got dumped on.

I had my fingers crossed in hopes that we weren't going to get doused this winter like we did last year.  still, I knew it was only a matter of time before some sort of winter storm blew in.  I can't expect every day to be sunny, although wouldn't that be nice?

so now we're blanketed under a layer of white, fluffy powder.  in true Flagstaff fashion, this last storm left us with a dusting of oh just a couple feet. what?  and you thought your winters were bad, ha!

and while I'm not crazy about snow (granted it is pretty and I'll take it over sub-zero temps any day) it came as a blessing in disguise.  which means the kids actually tore themselves away from their electronic devices to go outside and play for a few hours yesterday afternoon.  can I get a chorus of hallelujahs?  it gave this momma a much needed reprieve, even if it was only for a short while.

and speaking of going nuts, after re-reading yesterday's post I couldn't help but laugh out loud, envisioning this fruitcake of a mom I've managed to portray myself as.  and I quote: "if only you could see me giggling into my balled-up fists."  HA HA HA HA HA HAHAHAHAHAuuuurk.  what was I thinking?

well, despite the unruliness that's been going on with all the kiddos home on winter vacay, it hasn't been ALL bad.  there's been lots of hanging out and lots of relaxing and well, lots of nothing, really.  and who doesn't enjoy lounging around in pajamas until noon-- okay maybe it was the whole day, but who's keeping tabs?  it's been one of those chill weeks (read: family time.)

so anyway, Phoebe and I went for a mini walk around the neighborhood yesterday to check out the snow.  as we were walking down one of the streets, this dog comes bounding up from out of nowhere and sticks its nose right in my OH STOP THAT IS SO GROSS.  Phoebe nearly fell over she was laughing so hard.  and then she tells me "mom, that dog sure was nosy, huh?"  too funny.

so now next week is operation organization around here.  time to weed out the old junk to make room for the new toys and such.

and does anyone else get the itch to redecorate after the Christmas stuff comes down?  well this Saturday just so happens to be 50% off day at Goodwill.  hoping to score some treasures that have re-purposing potential.  wish me luck!

see you in the New Year!

PS. Becca, are you ready to hit up every Goodwill in the valley? ;)

There's a reason I like the UP winters... the kids are outside all the time! They love the snow! Happy New Year to you and yours!

I'm glad you found a reason to like snow :) It sure beats freezing rain, which is what we're receiving today. Blah!
