Sunday afternoon adventure.

if we're not high-tailing it to Phoenix on Sunday, then most likely you will find us heading out on some sort of family adventure instead.  mainly because I can't stand molding around the house, listening to the kids whine and complain about how bored they are.  "there's nothing to dooo.  it's sooo borrring around here."  yeah, drives me nuts.  besides, there's nothing like a little fresh air and exercise to wear out the kids-- you're pretty much guaranteed an early-to-bed time.  can't beat that!

this past Sunday found us, once again, in Sedona.  fun fact: Sedona is 28 miles from Flagstaff and typically 10-15 degrees warmer (due to its lower elevation.)  so, if it's too chilly to hike around here, we simply hop in our car, er big white van, and a half-hour later we're enjoying perfect hiking weather. don't like to hike?  you can bike.  don't like to bike?  you can tour around on a pink jeep.  don't like pink jeeps?  you can shop.  don't like to shop?  just hang out and soak up the sun.  don't like soaking up the sun in mid-February?  then you have some pretty deep eskimo roots ;)

Sedona is easily one of the most gorgeous places I've ever visited.  I bet between Flagstaff and its surrounding areas, a person could easily live an entire lifetime and never run out of different trails to explore.  I love the variety.

Hiking is such a fun family activity. Our family loves it (at least the mom and dad do)!

I love family day trips too. I'm always trying to find new places to explore. I agree - it keeps the kids active and usually happy, so we don't have to sit home and listen to them fighting or complaining about being bored!

Hmmm... I would love to! This is the one reason I would love to move out of MN- there is just so so much to do in other areas! Although, we have found some stuff around here it is just not right out my back door like it is for you! I absolutely love family day trips like this- you make me a little green with these postings :) Maybe it's just the winter blues...

I could totally go for a hike with some warm weather and no snow, wish it was only 1/2 hr away for us! Those family days are special! Way to capture it all with your awesome photos! Kara
ps, how in the world do I post a comment without being anonymous? I must be a bit simple:)

@ Anonymous- thanks! this particular trail was called "Soldier's Pass." if I remember correctly, you take Soldier's Pass Road off of 89A and it's just down a short ways.
