slacker.

after being "away from keyboard" for a few days, it's hard to get back into the groove again.  I will admit though, it was a refreshing break.  now-a-days, with all the social networking and the like (both on our computers, as well as our phones), it's easy to log in a lot of screen time without even realizing it, and this annoys me sometimes.

like seriously, do I really need to check facebook three or four times a day because, heaven forbid, I just "might" miss out on something?  or race to my phone after it dings just to read yet another email from Ann Taylor Loft informing me about yet another 30% off sale that I, "DON'T WANT TO MISS!?"  of course not.  surely if there's something important I need to know, I'll find out about it eventually.  I guess I'm just tired of clogging my brain with (mostly) useless information, as I have enough things on my mind already, like the impending arrival of Alfred for one.

don't get me wrong.  I love social networking in that it enables us to keep in touch with faraway friends and family, which is awesome.  it's just that personally, I think I could get by with spending less time on these sites.  does anyone else feel this way?  same goes for blogging. when it becomes a chore rather than an enjoyment, that's when I know it's time to step away for a while-- take a quick breather, if you will.

point being, I won't be on facebook or updating here quite as often.  but I'll for sure let you know when baby arrives, how's that?

okay.  so, if any of you were wondering what this "special event" was that took place in honor of me last Friday it was, you guessed it, a baby shower.  awww.  yep, if you're fortunate enough to have ten children, then that definitely calls for a celebration.  in other words, God has richly blessed us :-)

and don't worry.  if you missed this one, you can always attend my twentieth baby shower, YAY! (um, you guys, that was just a joke.  a good one, but really, I was only kidding.  seriously, STOP laughing.  it's not even one bit funny.  why oh why do I say these things?  uuuurk ;-)

anyway, I received some really, really, REALLY nice gifts which made me feel incredibly spoiled.  in fact, I was absolutely smitten by this adorable gift my mother-in-law made.  yes, you heard right.  she MADE these with her own two hands (and lots and lots of love.)

check it:

a matching sweater, booties, teddy bear hat and blankie CAN YOU SAY HOLY CUTENESS?  seriously, she is so incredibly talented, I can't stand it!
once again, to those of you who showered us with gifts to help celebrate this joyous occasion, your generosity is truly appreciated!  I cannot thank you enough!  Alfie will definitely be the best dressed little man in the history of Flagstaff!

from the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

-jessica

PS. excluding the regular commenters, where on earth did the rest of you disappear to? :-(  does my breath suddenly reek, or what? ;-)  honestly, I truly enjoy reading what you have to say, even if it's a quick "hi!"  plus it gives me motivation to blog, something I'm lacking right now, hint.  and, contrary to what my previous history may suggest, I really don't like talking to myself.  promise.

LOL Briita! good point! apparently we're all trying to spend less time staring at our screens and more time staring at our loved ones faces! I think it's all about finding a balance between being "plugged" and "unplugged" and doing what works best for you.

Waiting to see posts of the party...(hint, hint...get motivated to post "the shower") I'm glad there might be a 20th Baby Shower...maybe by then my life will have slowed down and I could take a trip to AZ to attend that miraculous event!:)
